NYU Open Education: Genomes and Diversity by Dr. Mark Siegal, Associate Professor of the Center for Genomics and Systems Biology
The mission of the Center for Genomics & Systems Biology is to define how regulatory networks operate and how they have evolved to generate diversity across species. For this work, we use approaches that span systems biology, comparative functional genomics & bioinformatic analysis focusing on model organisms and phylogenetically related species. Read more

CGSB Ph.D. Student Ashley Bate Wins Award at International Conference
Ashley Bate, a Ph.D. student in the Eichenberger laboratory, has received a Communications Prize for best young speaker at the 5th European Spores Conference.

The laboratory led by CGSB faculty member Mark Siegal has found mechanisms by which yeast employs a bet hedging strategy that enables some cells to survive in harsh environments, which increases overall population fitness when environmental shifts are unpredictable.
